This comprehensive course takes you through the same Basic ICF Installer Course that BuildBlock teaches in hands-on training sessions across the country. From excavation to exterior finishes, you’ll learn every stage of building with insulating concrete forms — with the expert tips that separate a smooth, profitable job from a costly one. The course is free; registration is only required to take the quizzes and earn your certificate. Plan on about 120 minutes to complete it.
Who this course is for?
New and intermediate installers, contractors adding ICF to their services, owner-builders planning their own home, and trade partners (framers, electricians, plumbers) who need to understand how ICF walls affect their work.
What you’ll learn
The course is organized into 19 modules covering jobsite safety, understanding labor and estimating, footings and foundations, door and window openings, concrete reinforcement, stacking and bracing the wall, penetrations and beam pockets, the pre-pour inspection, pouring and consolidating concrete, post-pour curing, waterproofing and backfilling, MEP rough-in, and interior and exterior finishes. Each module ends with a short video review and a quiz.
Frequently asked questions
Is the course free? Yes. All lesson content is free to access. You only need a free account to take quizzes and receive a certificate of completion.
Do I need prior experience? No. BuildBlock ICFs are designed so that, with a little guidance, almost anyone can build with them. Having at least one experienced person on the jobsite is recommended.
Will I get a certificate? Yes — register for free, complete the quizzes, and you’ll earn a BuildBlock training certificate.
Is this the same as in-person BuildBlock training? It mirrors the curriculum of our in-person Basic ICF Installer Course, so it’s an excellent primer before or alongside hands-on training.
