Working on Elavated Surfaces
As walls go up and concrete is poured it will be necessary to work on elevated surfaces. When working on scaffolding and walk boards, follow all appropriate safety codes including:
- OSHA Requirements
- Seismic Considerations
- Local Codes
Install hand rails as needed and be mindful of best practices when bracing your walls and constructing scaffolding.
Scaffolding and walk boards should be easily accessible via ladders or ramps. If you are going to step onto a platform or roof, the top of the ladder should extend at least 3 feet above the point where the ladder touches the platform or roof.
Keep the ground below elevated work areas clear of hazards to better protect against injury from a fall.
Lastly, team members should feel confident in their work space but always be mindful of their surroundings and walk slowly when on elevated surfaces.
