Rebar Safety

Steel rebar is used throughout an ICF build. To avoid injury, properly use rebar protection caps and mark rebar that extends from the slab. That’s why, on most projects, it’s important to quickly get the first two courses set. Most vertical rebar will extend less than 24″ above the footing. Installing the first two courses will hide this jobsite danger.

Pro Tip

Remember to mark the location of vertical rebar on the side of the block so you can easily determine where to place vertical rebar maintaining a non-contact lap splice before pouring the wall.

Use local codes for site specific requirements and always wear proper protective gear. It is especially important to wear gloves and a hard hat when working with or around embedded rebar.
