ICF Pool Construction in 30 Steps Lessons Step 6: Place Vertical Rebar and Stirrups

Step 6: Place Vertical Rebar

Before the concrete sets up, place vertical rebar pins and stirrups in the footing. These pins will tie the wall to the footing and the must overlap by 40x the bar diameter. The equation to figure out the appropriate overlap looks like this: [bar diameter] x [40] = [overlap in inches]

Example:
For this example, we’ll use #4 rebar which has a diameter of 0.5″.
0.5 x 40 = 20
The equation tells us that when using number 4 rebar, the steel in the wall will need to overlap the steel in the footings by 20 inches.

Step 6: Place vertical rebar per engineering requirements in the footing and add stirrups to tie footings into the pool floor.
