Pouring an ICF Project Lessons Jobs to Delegate

Jobs to Delegate

Below are many of the jobs necessary to have a successful pour day. Make sure everyone knows what they are responsible for. Keep in mind that the ICF portion of most residential jobs can be handled by a small crew of 3 to 5 people so jobs should be delegated beforehand, as most people will perform more than one task.
  • Someone to check concrete slump and communicate with the truck driver.
  • Team member to pour concrete and communicate with the pump operator.
  • Team members to inspect openings, determine the height of concrete in the wall, level concrete, and adjust bracing as needed.
  • Someone to internally vibrate concrete.
    • Each lift is vibrated into the lift below
    • BuildBlock recommends a low impact pencil vibrator with a ¾” to 1″ head and a 1.5 HP motor. Either gas or electric is acceptable.
    • The recommended technique is fast in/slow out with an average pull out rate of 4 to 6 inches per second
  • Team member to appropriately set anchor bolts or other top of the wall connections.
  • Team members to continuously clean up around the site during the pour and ensure the entire site is clean after the pour.
