Check Your Walls
The blocks were delivered and everything looked great. You staged material correctly and have stacked your wall adding the required rebar as specified by engineering. The bracing system is in place and all openings are properly braced and strapped. The next step is filling those walls with concrete. Before concrete is delivered to your site, let’s make doubly sure that everything is ready for pour day.
Some Areas to Check
- Check that all block cuts, openings, vertical seams, and penetrations are braced and strapped adequately.
- Double check that all corners are straight and plumb.
- Use proper stacking strategies: all blocks stacked with a running bond, firmly seated, and check all bracing before the pour.
- Make sure that any vertical seams are strapped appropriately.
- Check that rebar is placed correctly both vertically and horizontally inside walls.
- Make sure that J-bolts or other connection materials for the top of the wall are staged properly.
- Make sure that everyone has appropriate safety gear.

There are a lot of things to check before pouring your project. We dedicate an entire lesson to Pre-Pour Inspection in our expanded Basic ICF Installation Course. For now, you can learn more about the pre-pour inspection phase of the build by watching the video below.
